Scale AI Maintains Independence Despite Meta’s 49% Stake Acquisition
Scale AI has moved swiftly to dispel concerns about its operational independence after Meta acquired a 49% stake in the company for $14.3 billion. The deal, which stops short of majority control, sparked industry-wide speculation about potential preferential treatment for the social media giant.
Interim CEO Jason Droege emphasized Meta's position as just another customer, stating the investor WOULD receive no special access to internal data or board privileges beyond existing arrangements. Only a handful of Scale employees have transitioned to Meta following the transaction.
The AI infrastructure provider anticipates $2 billion in 2025 revenue while continuing to serve diverse clients across multiple sectors. Scale's leadership maintains the partnership won't compromise its neutrality, comparing Meta's role to that of other enterprise clients since 2019.
